The UP Police Department is collecting ₹8 lakh from constables who pass an exam to become sub-inspectors. The department's condition is that they must return the cost of training and salary.
In Uttar Pradesh, approximately 1700 police personnel want to quit their jobs as constables. They have already been selected for positions such as sub-inspector and computer operator, among other recruitments. Of these candidates, 75% were selected for the position of sub-inspector itself. However, the police department is now refusing to issue them relieving letters. The department's condition is that they will have to repay the expenses incurred during training and their salaries. In this context, each constable would need to return an average of around 8 lakh rupees to the department.
