Rare turtles worth lakhs of rupees seized at Varanasi Junction: One was being smuggled from the general compartment of the Kumbh Express to Kolkata, arrested.

The Varanasi GRP (Government Railway Police) on Monday night recovered 24 rare turtles from a smuggler in the general compartment of the Kumbh Express train. They also arrested Monu Kanjad, a resident of Gandhinagar in Jagdishpur, Amethi district. The smuggler is of a cunning nature. Among the recovered turtles, 6 are large and the rest are small. They were being transported in four bags and a bag. The raid in the general compartment was conducted on the information of an informer, as instructed by GRP Station In-charge Rajol Nagar.
