In Varanasi, India's Ganges region, flood debris began to appear at the Dashashwamedh Ghat after the water level in the Ganges decreased. On Sunday, Rajesh Shukla, the convener of the Namami Gange Kashi region and a Ganga Sevak, collected plastic bottles, polythene bags, religious items, and other waste scattered on the ghat. Rajesh Shukla stated that after the floodwaters recede, the remaining debris from the riverbank could be re-entered into the river. This could harm aquatic life and the river's ecosystem.
