Kanpur MLC Arun Pathak has been given command of Varanasi and made in-charge of the district metropolis, while Kaushalendra has been assigned responsibility for Sonbhadra.

The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed district in-charges to its organizational districts on Saturday evening. New in-charges were given responsibilities in 16 organizational districts of the Kashi region, with some being repeated from the same district. These district in-charges will play a crucial role in the upcoming 2027 assembly elections, ranging from candidate selection to election management. In the coming days, the party is also likely to appoint state working committee members.
