In the village of Shambhupur, located in the Ahraula police station area of Azamgarh district, three people were murdered on Tuesday evening during a dispute over worship. Following the incident, the accused, Arvind Singh, locked himself and his three children inside a room with a rifle. From 7:00 pm to 12:00 am, DIG Sunil Kumar Singh of Azamgarh, SSP Dr. Anil Kumar, and ADG Naveen Arora of Varanasi arrived at 11:30 pm with the police force, but they kept searching for the accused.
