In Varanasi, relatives pushed the police away from a body and fled: Protesting the post-mortem, claiming the death was due to drowning, the police then took it back into custody.

A scuffle was witnessed between relatives and the police at Kabirchara Hospital in Varanasi regarding a body. Relatives were protesting the post-mortem examination, and they fled from the scene with the body on an e-rickshaw. However, Kotwali and Sigra police seized the e-rickshaw and took custody of the body again to reach the hospital. Raju Kumar (35), a resident of Maldahiya Malin Basti, died by drowning in the Pishachmochan Kund. The police recovered the body with the help of NDRF.
