The leader of a kidney transplant gang in Chandigarh is absconding. A non-bailable warrant has been issued for him. It was alleged that they demanded ₹2.50 lakh after the operation and would bring donors from far and wide.

The main accused in the kidney transplant racket that surfaced at Chandigarh PGI in 2019, Ebam Devi, is now absconding. She was imprisoned for several years in Budail Jail. Last year, she was granted bail by the court. Since her release, she had been consistently absent from court appearances. Despite being summoned multiple times, she failed to attend court hearings. During a hearing last week, she was also absent. Following this, the court issued non-bailable warrants against her.
