In Chandigarh, city dwellers can find two new lakes amidst the forests, in addition to Sukhna Lake. Preparations are underway to develop the natural depressions already present in the forests of Chandigarh and create two new water bodies. The primary objective is not tourism, but rather to store rainwater, increase groundwater levels, maintain moisture in the forest, and provide water to wildlife. According to the plan, one lake will be connected to the Patiala Rao near Dhanas.
