Additional barracks will be built in Model Jail at a cost of ₹26.73 crore: Administrator said that the jail capacity will increase for 552 inmates; from administrative block to training shed will be constructed.

The Chandigarh Model Jail will now have expanded administrative and security facilities, along with additional accommodation for prisoners. The project, worth Rs 26.73 crore, is targeted to be completed in 24 months by Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria. Once the project is complete, the jail will be able to accommodate an additional 552 prisoners. The model jail aims to cater to the growing housing and operational needs.
