A major verdict in favor of land owners in New Chandigarh: Mohali court ordered that they would receive ₹3.20 crore per acre for a nine-year-old case.
The Mohali court has delivered a major verdict in favor of the landowners of village Dodhe Majra in Mohali district after nine years. The court has clarified that the gram panchayat does not have any right over the compensation for land acquired for public roads. The actual ownership of this land rests with the khawatdars, i.e., the original owners of the land. The court has also significantly increased the amount of compensation. Landowners will now receive ₹3,20,16,000 per acre, which is approximately ₹3.20 crore.
