Bank employees and officers across the country went on strike on Friday, protesting long-pending demands including a five-day work week in the banking industry. The all-India strike, called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), also had a significant impact in Chandigarh. Normal banking operations were disrupted at various locations. Various banks and UFBU constituent organizations held protests at Bank Square in Sector 17, Chandigarh.
