Chandigarh's leasehold properties will become freehold: Collector proposes charging 50% of the rent, sends proposal to MHA; approximately 8,600 leasehold properties in the city.

The Chandigarh administration has prepared a new proposal to convert the city's leasehold industrial and commercial properties into freehold. Under this, there is a proposal to charge around 50% of the existing collector rate for the freehold conversion of properties obtained through allotment. The administration has sent this proposal to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for approval. This proposal aims to convert the city's industrial and commercial leasehold properties into freehold.
