The Punjab and Haryana High Court has provided relief to a family who lost their wife and mother in a road accident. The court increased the compensation from ₹9.80 lakh, which was decided by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, to ₹22.62 lakh. The court stated that while determining the compensation, it is necessary to consider not only the deceased's income from her job but also her domestic contribution to the family. Based on the age of 35 years, a multiplier of 16 was applied to increase the dependency amount to ₹21.1 lakh.
