Politics heated up with the entry of former gangsters into the AAP: Congress said they are turning politics into a haven for gangsters; BJP said, "Will gangsters run Punjab?"
The politics of Punjab have heated up after former gangster Gurpreet Singh Sekhon joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Sekhon was inducted into the AAP in the presence of CM Bhagwant Mann at Makhu in Firozpur. Sekhon has 47 criminal cases registered against him and is a key accused in the infamous Nabha jailbreak case of 2016. His joining has been questioned by the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, and BJP, who have accused the AAP of promoting gangster culture.
