In a nearly nine-year-old prostitution case, the Chandigarh District Court acquitted three accused due to lack of evidence. The court found that the prosecution could not prove beyond doubt the allegations made against the accused. Questions were also raised about the police's actions in the case, as the then DSP who exposed the alleged gang was not presented again in court for cross-examination by the defense, despite being a key witness.
