The complainant in the gang rape case will not be charged under prostitution sections; the High Court has removed Sections 4-5 of the ITPA. The woman herself is accused of engaging in prostitution.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has quashed the charges framed against the complainant woman in the 2015 gang rape case registered at Banod, Punjab, under sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act (ITPA), 1956. During the police investigation, the woman herself was made an accused in the gang rape case. The police had alleged that the woman, along with her husband and others, had registered a case of gang rape to extort money from the families of the accused.
