The NGT has ruled that Reko cannot extract even one drop of groundwater without the permission of the CGWA, due to illegal exploitation of groundwater.

The Central Zone Bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Bhopal, has delivered a strict verdict on the uncontrolled exploitation of groundwater in 409 industrial areas across the state, which have been operating without any permission for years. Hearing the petition of Tahir Hussain, a resident of Bikaner, the bench comprising Justice Shiv Kumar Singh and Expert Member Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi ordered that no mining activity can be carried out in Rajasthan or anywhere else without an NOC from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA).
