The Rajasthan High Court has expressed serious concerns over the threat to the UNESCO World Heritage Site status of Jaipur's walled city. Justice Pramil Kumar Mathur, taking suo moto cognizance of the matter based on media reports, directed that the case be referred to the Chief Justice for registration as a public interest litigation. The court stated that the world has already lost its status to 4 World Heritage Sites so far.
