Today is the 'formal' voting for Mayor: Mawar defeated his nephew Vikas Kothari in the ward, now facing uncle Sunil Kothari for Mayor.

The Municipal Corporation will get a new mayor on Friday. After two out of three Congress candidates withdrew their names, the contest is now between BJP's Sunil Kothari and Congress's Sunita Mawar. Interestingly, Sunita Mawar has recently defeated one Kothari in an election, and now she will fight for the mayoral post against another Kothari on Friday. In the Municipal Corporation elections, Mawar contested from Ward 118 of Adarsh Nagar Assembly constituency as a BJP candidate, defeating Vikas Kothari.
