Attempted cyber fraud in the name of a credit card: HSBC bank official impersonated over phone to solicit information; transaction of ₹2.24 lakh held up.
A case of cyber fraud has come to light in the Bharta Basti police station area of Jaipur. A fraudster posed as an HSBC bank employee and called an elderly person under the pretext of explaining the benefits of a credit card. During the conversation, the victim started receiving OTPs on their mobile phone. After this, they also received a call forwarding message. When the victim became suspicious, they disconnected the call, but shortly after, ₹224,000 was deducted from their American Express credit card.
