In Rajasthan, more than 1,000 former sarpanches may be barred from contesting elections. They are accused of corruption, embezzlement of government funds, and misuse of their positions. A list is being prepared for such sarpanches, with the majority of cases related to Alwar district. According to Jogaram, Secretary and Commissioner of the Panchayati Raj Department, many former sarpanches committed irregularities while in office and misused government funds meant for the development of the panchayat.
