BJP loses in Vasundhara's stronghold, Gehlot and Shekhawat lose their wards; Congress wins in Pilot's area. For the first time in Rajasthan local body elections, 'AAP' has won a board seat.
The results of the Rajasthan local body elections in 309 constituencies were quite surprising. The Congress won in Jhalawar, which was once a stronghold of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Meanwhile, the BJP also lost in Tonk, the assembly constituency of former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. On the other hand, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot failed to even retain their own wards. The Aam Aadmi Party has won a municipal council for the first time with a clear majority, appointing its chairman.
